Configuring The Points System

Gamification is a powerful engine for community retention. In FluentCommunity, you assign points to member actions such as posting, commenting, and reacting. Those points power leaderboard rankings and level progression.

Use Case: You can set up a system where members earn 10 points for creating a new post, 2 points for every comment they leave, and 1 point for every reaction they give. This incentivizes them to not just consume content, but to actively contribute to discussions.

Setting Point Values

From Portal Settings, open Features & Addons, locate the Leaderboards Module, and click Settings. With the module enabled, you will see a list of actions that can be rewarded with points. Enter a numerical value for each action.

Key actions you can assign points to include:

  • Create a Post: Award points when a member starts a new discussion thread.
  • Post a Reply: Award points for each comment a member leaves on a post.
  • Receive a Reaction: Award points to the author of a post or comment each time someone reacts to it.
  • Give a Reaction: Award points to the member who gives a reaction to someone else's content.

Enter the number of points you want to award for each action. If you want to disable points for a specific action, simply enter 0.

✨ Note: The points a user earns are cumulative and are displayed on their profile. These points are also used to determine a member's rank on the community leaderboards and their milestone level.

Click Save Settings to apply your changes. Your points system is now active.
